The Mosaic Lagoon Cafe’ in the historic 1892 Spookhuis is one of Mosaic’s great attractions. Built of stacked limestone blocks in 1892, the Spookhuis is home to our daytime cafe’ on the water, offering sandwiches, salads, freshly baked breads, muffins, pastries, desserts, cured meats, cheese platters, preserves, infused oils and organic vegetables. Gourmet picnic baskets can be ordered and enjoyed in the most divine setting under the milkwood trees on the lagoon, or around roaring fires inside if there is a chill in the air. Select award winning South African wines from our cellar and pair with cheese and mezze platters. Or indulge in delicious cakes and cappuccino to top off your meal.

Why Lagoon Café?

There is plenty of space for children to play. Our shop has a selection of quality African made curios and jewelry, and candy for kids.

Homemade jams, chutney, Mosaic honey and baked goods are available to take home. Cafe items are available for self-catering cottage guests and breakfast baskets and dinner BBQ platters can be ordered with delicious marinated meats and fresh vegetables, ready for the braai fire.

What previously was the underground cheese cellar of the 1892 Spookhuis is now home to our cellar stocking prestige South African wine, with special attention to the Overberg Wine Region. Well known for the great wineries of Hamilton Russell and Bouchard Finlayson, the Overberg is home to an increasing number of award-winning wineries, such as Creation and Springfontein, our neighbor next door who has received world recognition as a pioneer in a unique limestone soil and cool climate terroir.

We are so proud to be part of the Stanford Local Food Heroes. Our ethos is producing our food locally, sourcing our food locally and eating our food locally; the healthiest way to live and eat! Look for the Local Food Heroes markets.

A wonderful day spent at Mosaic is to combine a gourmet lunch with a 4×4 quad bike ride through fynbos or with a massage treatment/manicure/pedicure at our Rain Milkwood Spa. We exclusively use natural handmade Rain Spa Products.
